The Shadow pelting me was you

Di would definitely claim they'd made friends early on.  He'd never get much more specific than that, lest Ani prove him wrong.  In any case they'd been friends for a while.  They'd been friends with cuddle benefits for nearly as long, and it had even in a fair bit of time since the cuddling had gotten even more involved.

Di was content.  Rather happy, and really just figured it would stay that way.

'Cept he had a Mate Dream.  Of course, he didn't know that that was what it was at first.  Just seemed like a decently involved game of Snow Ball fighting like he and Ani sometimes got up to.  The snowballs were well-packed, and just firm enough to not turn into spray at being tossed.  But not so firm that they didn't turn into spray upon impact.  The only real difference was that his 'opponent' in play was just a deep shadow.  They had a darn good arm though, and he seriously wondered if Ani might have taught them- in the dream.

When he woke, he took the dream to the Shaman and that's where he heard what it was for sure.

He pouted a bit about how this was going to muck up the games he had going with Ani, and Teb just Looked at him.  Flat.  Like, 'how do you not know already?'

And then it clicked.

So, of COURSE he ran to find Ani and tell her.

"Heeey, Ani!" Said around a quick game of lean on her until she makes him stop, "Ani, Ani, Ani, my favorite friend, my erstwhile opponent in the game of snow balls.  How's the day treating you so far?  I hope it's better than mine, 'cause I just got my Mate Dream interpreted." And cue the huuuuge poutey face that was usually a sign of him pulling a prank on someone.  "It was the best Snowball fight ever though, could almost have sworn the shadow pelting me was you."
