Out of the Shell

Mir had been a fairly quiet pup to begin with.  His parents had had to keep an eye on him because he was prone to wandering off somewhere, with very little sound.  Luckily, he was a first pup, so there wasn't so much distraction that he could get far without being caught.

After the first transformation from pup to toddler, Mir had been happy to play and run on two feet, but found he couldn't switch back.  And while he could have had any number of fits at the idea, he just pouted.  It was strong pouting, but still just pouting.

From then on, he was attempting to learn everything he could about what made him unable to shift.  And a few years down the road, when the Alpha finally had a pup, and his son proved also unable to shift back, Mir was happy enough to explain the whys and hows he'd gotten hold of.

By that point, Mir had also come to enjoy learning the details of being a Hutch.  The herbs and plants, their uses, where to find them, which ones could be used the same way all the time...  At first, there was some consideration to becoming a Shaman, but Mir understood that he didn't yet year anything or feel anything that suggested he might actually be suited to the role.

And when they moved to Raotani lands, and he discovered that his condition meant he could read, he was quite happy to learn along side of Laes.  (He quietly mourned that the Enaku hadn't ever considered investigating such a skill, but was quite happy that the Raotani were more out-going.  Or less insular, as he learned was another good word for it.)
